Local 286 is booming! We are working diligently to contact each of our members who are on the out of the work list. With the increased work in our jurisdiction, we are having trouble filling the calls for a 40-hour job in Pflugerville and a short-call overtime job at the University of Texas in Austin. Some of you are working in other local jurisdictions and we wanted to inform you of what was happening at home. Whatever your case may be, if you are interested in working at home, please contact the Union Hall so we can man the work that our signatory contractors have. We are at the point where we will need to contact other local unions to help fill these calls, especially for specialties such as orbital welders and plumbers willing to work 40 hours. Thank you!

Important changes are coming to your Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local Union 286 Money Purchase Plan

Dear Plan Member:

If you have 100% of your plan balance in and contributions directed to Vanguard Balanced Index Fund in

the Money Purchase Plan, then effective July 1, 2014, at 4 p.m., Eastern time, your money will move

to the Vanguard Target Retirement Fund with the target year closest to the year in which you will turn

age 65.

Your plan’s default funds

Your plan has designated a new default fund, where your contributions will be invested if you do not make an alternative investment election. Effective June 30, 2014, your plan’s default fund will be the Vanguard Target Retirement Fund with the target date closest to the year you will reach age 65.

A single Target Retirement Fund provides diversification and is designed to keep your assets invested appropriately for someone in your stage of life, up to and including your retirement years.

All investing is subject to risk, including the possible loss of the money you invest. Investments in Target Retirement Funds are subject to the risks of their underlying funds. The date in the fund name refers to the approximate year (the target date) when an investor in the fund would retire and leave the workforce. The fund will gradually shift its emphasis from more aggressive investments to more conservative ones based on its target date. An investment in a Target Retirement Fund is not guaranteed at any time, including on or after the target date. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss.

How your money will move

Balances in and contributions to Vanguard Balanced Index Fund will transfer automatically on June 30, 2014, to the Vanguard Target Retirement Fund with the target date closest to the year in which you will reach age 65 as shown in the chart below. If you want your contributions redirected to other funds, you must take action by 4 p.m., Eastern time, on June 30, 2014.
